2. Drivetrain & Locomotion Freedom
Builders are free to implement any drivetrain architecture suitable for their rover's operational mission:
- Four-Wheel Drive (4WD): High-traction skid-steer setups for rough terrain and obstacle climbing.
- Differential Drive (2WD + Caster): Agile, high-efficiency two-wheel drive with support casters for flat surfaces.
- Tracked Locomotion: Continuous rubber or modular plastic tracks for maximum ground clearance.
- Omnidirectional & Mecanum: Multi-directional wheel arrangements for precise lateral movement in tight indoor spaces.
- Custom & Articulated Kinematics: Trikes, rocker-bogie suspensions, and articulated chassis designs.
3. Component Interoperability
To maintain a healthy secondary market and enable modular upgrades:
- Builders should select standardized motor form factors and mounting brackets.
